Why Your Old Extensions Felt Heavy (And What Fine Hair Actually Needs)
You loved the length. You just couldn’t stand how your head felt by hour three. Tight strands pulling at your scalp, a dull ache by the end of the day, and that quiet worry that whatever was clipped, taped, or glued in was thinning your real hair out even faster. If that sounds familiar, the problem was never your hair being too fine for extensions. It was the method.
Heavy was never about your hair being too fine for extensions.
Most women who come to us have already tried extensions somewhere else. Tape ins, keratin bonds, sometimes both, and they left feeling like they were carrying a wig or nursing a headache by dinner. That’s not a flaw in you or your hair. It usually means the method put too much weight on too few points of contact. Tape wefts and bulky bonds are built for hair that already has thickness to spare. Fine and low density hair needs the opposite. More contact points, each one carrying less, so no single section is doing all the work.
What we actually install, and why it lays differently
This is why we build our extension work exclusively around Invisible Bead Extensions, using our own in house line, Orahhair. Tiny silicone lined beads clamp the extension wefts to small sections of your natural hair. No glue. No tape. No heat. The weight spreads across dozens of tiny points instead of a handful of large ones, so it sits on your head the way your own hair does. Not on top of it. It’s also why we never rush an install. Getting the sectioning and bead placement right for your specific density takes time, which is part of why we don’t offer same day installs. We would rather get it right once.
“I also can’t remember the last time I felt this good about my super fine and thin blonde hair. I previously had tape extensions that felt heavy, suffocated my scalp (causing irritation).”
M. McKay
Comfort you can actually forget about
The best sign an install is working is that you stop thinking about it. You should be able to put your hair up, sleep on it, run your hands through it, and forget it’s there until wash day. If your last set of extensions is the reason you’re reading this, that’s the difference we’re describing. Not a bigger promise about length or volume. Hair that behaves like your own again.
One artist, one standard
Every stylist on our team trains personally under Alexandra Siles, our Headmaster Stylist and Master Extension Artist. So the read on your density and the placement itself holds to the same standard no matter who’s in the chair.
If this sounds like your hair, let’s talk about it. Come in for a consultation and we’ll walk you through exactly what your hair needs and which method actually fits your density. No guessing, no upsell. Simply an honest read on what will and won’t work for you, before anything gets installed.
